Like most things in symbolic freemasonry and elsewhere, these come in threes. The 3 great pillars of operative, ancient Freemasonry were from architecture - the Ionic, Doric and Corinthian pillars or columns. These are emblematically represented as Wisdom, Strength and Beauty - qualities to be pursued and qualities which help render Freemasons better members of society. Likewise the three great pillars of today’s free and accepted or speculative masons are Brotherly love, relief and truth, and long may it remain so.
